This recipe is a great way to feed that craving with a higher quality choice. I try not to be too hardness on myself, “progress not perfection” works not just in Bar Method, but with food choices and many other aspects of life.

Lines We Love- Sally B’s Skin Yummies

If you’ve stepped inside The Bar Method East Cobb or Lenox, you’ve probably noticed our shop featuring consciously curated products that include apparel by Spiritual Gangster, fresh-pressed juices, by Bamboo Juice and more. Our goal for the shop is to find and feature quality brands that are eco-conscious and wellness-focused and, lastly, beautiful. Our latest addition, Sally B’s Skin Yummies, fits within that mindful criteria and contains some of the most seriously yummy ingredients that nature has to offer.

Here are a few reasons Sally B’s Skin Yummies is a line we love and we think you’ll feel the same:

The back-story. There’s something so special about a brand with a story behind it, and I don’t mean one that starts on the 30th floor of a high-rise with bigwigs throwing around terms like “ROI” and “buy-ins”. I mean the type of story that began with an idea over a morning cup of coffee or on a cocktail napkin at 2am, and grew out of passion, ingenuity, and often with few resources. Here’s the very short version of one of those stories…

Atlanta native, Sally Larsen’s, brand story began with a devastating diagnoses of bone cancer. Within a year of her diagnoses, the successful businesswoman, wife and mother of two found herself bed-ridden and undergoing radiation treatments, which worked. The surgery removed the cancerous tumor growing from her pelvis but it also took the lymph nodes in her right leg. A diagnosis of Lymphedema took the place of her cancer and with that came a slew of health issues that included a compromised immune system.

More focused on her health and immunity than ever, Sally began researching inflammation and its impact on the immune system. The more she read, the more conscious she became about eating organically and choosing foods that combat inflammation. But what about the products she was putting on her skin? She began researching the correlations between the chemical ingredients in skincare products and health conditions and realized there was a lot that was not being discussed by mainstream media (this was the early 2000s). She began working with a nutritionist and a chemist to develop safe skincare principles and began formulating products that were both nontoxic and effective, and so Sally B’s Skin Yummies was born.

That was 11 years ago. Today, Sally B’s Skin Yummies is distributed internationally, has been raved about by some of our favorite beauty and wellness experts and is now available at The Bar Method East Cobb and Lenox!

Cruelty free is a beautiful thing. Did you know that 80% of the world still allows animal testing for the cosmetics industry? In fact, most big-label cosmetics brands in the US still engage in this nasty and inhumane practice. Sally B’s is not one of them. In 2012, the brand earned the esteemed Leaping Bunny seal on all of its products, meaning not one of them has ever been tested on animals, and proving no one really has to be harmed in the game of beauty.

It’s made right here in “the A”! As an entrepreneur, I see first-hand how the support of your community means everything to a small business’ success. Not only does shopping local (and small) support other business owners and the local economy, but it’s one of the best decisions you can make for the environment. Shopping from other local small businesses mean products are distributed over a shorter distance, which requires less fuel and toxic output.

What’s missing is as important as what it contains. Our skin is our largest organ, yet we often limit the importance of detoxing and eating clean to our food. Think about the way a nicotine or hormone patch delivers its ingredients continually into a person’s bloodstream; the products we apply on a daily basis follow that same path into our system.

Sally B’s Skin Yummies is completely free of the following toxins:

  • GMOs
  • Formaldehyde
  • Parabens
  • Nano Particles
  • Animal Products (except for sustainably harvested beeswax)
  • Bismuth
  • Synthetic Colors
  • Lead, aluminum and other heavy metals
  • Mineral oil and other petroleum-based ingredients
  • Artificial Ingredients and masking agents

Food for your skin. With hard-working ingredients like neem oil, pea peptides and caffeine (oh my!), these products go to work tightening and plumping skin to its most youthful, healthy state. It’s amazing that everything we need internally and externally exists right in nature. Find a more comprehensive list of ingredients used in Sally B’s Skin Yummies products and their effects on the skin here.

You can now find Sally B’s Skin Yummies on shelves in The Bar Method’s East Cobb and Lenox locations. You can also enjoy them in our locker rooms in both locations. Stop in, sample and tell us what you think!
